He joins the group of the painters from Pistoia and exhibits at several collective exhibitions in Pistoia e Montecatini. In 1950 he exhibits at the XXV Biennale of Venice and during those years he starts his first contacts with Florentine entourage of painters, poets and men of letters, among whom Ottone Rosai. He moves to Florence and from 1956 he gets in touch with the Galleria L’Indiano, intelligently directed by Piero Santi and keeps on his relationship with the gallery until 1969. In 1958 the Galleria La Strozzina, directed by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti among his activities for Palazzo Strozzi, dedicates to him an interesting exhibition opportunity. During the seventies he exposes at several galleries both in Italy and Tuscany. In 1978 Scatizi is voted as Accademico dellAccademia fiorentina delle Arti del Disegno for the Painting class.
During the spring of 1982 a wide review of paintings, organized by Raffaele Monti and Alfredo Righi and presented in catalogue by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, takes place at Palazzo Strozzi. A true anthological exhibition which represents the whole work by Scatizzi. The long and deep contribution of Ragghianti is the last occasion for the critic to reach the research of Scatizzi, summarizing its phases and features.
In 1991 Scatizzi exhibits at the Galleria d’Arte Il Bisonte and twice in Los Angeles, then in 1994 his show in Toronto, Canada. In 1997 the Galleria d’arte moderna di Palazzo Pitti dedicates to the artist a retrospective Sergio Scatizzi. Gli anni dell'informale. The last important recognition which the city of Florence dedicates to the painter, occurs in Autumn 2009, at the Galleria d'arte moderna di Palazzo Pitti, nel Quartiere d'inverno. It’s just closed when the painter deceases on November 30th 2009..
